Tom Egan, President & CEO
Tom Egan joined Esperança in March 2011 as President and CEO. He brings a rich background in leading charitable organizations, particularly those that provide social services to children and families that live in poverty. His experience in fundraising, directing complex programs and nonprofit leadership made him a natural fit to carry on the exceptional work provided by past presidents.
Tom’s career has taken him to local and national taskforces that deal with poverty reduction, child welfare, animal welfare, domestic minor sex trafficking and international human trafficking.
His vision for Esperança is to concentrate on the world’s most vulnerable, particularly women and children, by partnering with the local community to provide long term, lasting solutions to public health issues. Christina Araiza, MPH, Program Director
Christina Araiza, MPH serves as Program Director of Esperança and provides oversight for the agency’s current five different public health and development projects. She completed her master’s in public health from Loma Linda University and has six years of experience working with both domestic and international community health projects. Christina also coordinates the volunteer surgical program and the procurement and delivery of donated medical supplies. Email Christina at christina@esperanca.org.
DeeAnn Brewer, Grants Manager
DeeAnn Brewer has written and managed grants for New York University, Catholic Charities Community Services and dozens of emerging nonprofits. Her expertise is in helping nonprofits dramatically grow their grant programs. The majority of her experience is in the fields of health and social services, both in the United States and developing countries. She attributes her success to her work at The Rockefeller Foundation, where she gained valuable insight into how non-profits can best partner with foundations to fulfill both organizations’ missions. Kevin Benney, CPA, Finance Director
Kevin Benney, CPA has served as Finance Director of Esperança since 2003. He has over 15 years of experience in finance management within the nonprofit sector. He received his bachelor’s in accounting and is also a licensed Certified Public Accountant. Currently, he manages all finance and donor database functions for Esperança. Margie Camacho, Office Manager & Development Associate
Margie Camacho serves as Office Manager and Development Associate. Her primary responsibilities include managing the daily operations of the office, coordinating board activities, and assisting with presentations for church and mission appeals. She is strongly committed to assisting the poor and oppressed members of our global family and has over 22 years of experience working with a variety of organizations that provide assistance to developing countries. Lori Logan, Development Director
Lori Logan joined Esperança again in 2008 as Development Director, having worked for the organization from 2002 to 2005. She graduated from the University of Arizona with a bachelor’s degree in political science and brings 14 years of experience in marketing and fundraising. Cindya Tona, Administrative Assistant/Receptionist
Cindy Tona is the first person one encounters when calling or visiting the Esperança office. She served as an intern for the Hispanic Outreach Alliance before joining Esperança. She is passionate about helping the world’s poor through health and development projects. She received a Bachelors of Science Degree in Industrial Engineering from Superior Institute and a Certificate in Technical Administration, Centro de Bachillerato Tecnológico Industrial y de Servicios Cananea, Sonora, Mexico.
