Maria has worked with Esperança since the inception of the Domestic Program back in 2000 and oversees the community health programs Esperança provides within the Phoenix area. She has helped write several of our curriculum, which include a healthy living series called Salud con Sabor Latino (Health with a Latin Flavor), the development of nutrition and oral health programs, and a new diabetes course. Maria has been asked to speak about her work in front of congress, presented at two World Health Organization (WHO) global forums, and was chosen for the Aspen-Aetna Healthy Communities Fellowship in 2019. She is truly passionate about changing the lives of those that Esperança serves.
